Setting out time to write can be a strain. And if you run a writing business, it gets even more difficult to prioritise what to do and when to do it. Managing clients, marketing products and handling the creative side of your business often take up a lot of time. So, it’s important to manage your time well.

We’ll be giving you a few tips on how to manage your time and become more productive as a writer.

1. Place your tasks in order of priority

Before starting any project, it is always good to ask what your priorities are. Categorise each project and determine what is urgent. Doing this will help you track your time and be more productive.

2. Block out time to work

Set times that are ideal for you to write. For instance, if you are free between 6pm to 8pm, you can easily block out those hours to do your writing tasks. Likewise, if you find mornings to be better for writing, stick with that.

3. Use a Scheduling tool

Scheduling tools come in handy when achieving writing goals. Use tools like the Google calendar to plan out all you need to do. You can easily set reminders so you do not miss important tasks.

4. Take Breaks

Yes! Part of being productive as a writer is to pace yourself when writing. You may get overwhelmed when you overwork. Remember to make time for rest and any other activity that gets you refueled.
